So after we (Broken Bones Garage) built Danny owner of Dixxon Flannel Company’s 1961 Chevy C10 they decided another shop truck would be cool to do. This time they tracked down a 1976 GMC Sierra grande for Justin Ahumada who named the truck “el Groucho”. We wanted this truck to be the best representation of what there company stands for form and function. So we put the feelers out there and started doing some research on what companies would best align for what we were after. Choppin’ Block, Accuair, Wilwood, American Racing Wheels, Dakota Digital, Optima Batteries, Vibro solutions was our top picks.
So Danny and his crew from Dixxon started reaching out to everyone to see who would be able to participate in building the best shop truck we could. In the mean time we tracked down a low mileage ls1 with 4l60e trans out of a 2002 Chevy Camaro. Choppin’ Block came back with a complete Extreme Series front and rear suspension kit with dual battery mounts, fuel cell, and pre-installed mounts for Accuair E-level sensors. Optima batteries came back with 2 yellow top batteries that fit perfectly in Choppin’ Blocks brackets. Accuair hooked us up with there 5 gallon Endo-VT tank that mounts perfectly in Choppin’ Blocks pre-made mount. They also supplied dual VIAIR compressor, E-level and everything else we needed to complete the install.
Dakota digital came back with a custom made gauge that displays Dixxons hammer and wrench crest. Vibro solutions supplied a hole lineup of everything needed to completely insulate and sound proof the inside of the cab. Justin got with American racing wheels and decided to go with there 20″ torque thrust wheels. After everything made it to the shop we started to tear it down and build the truck with the goal to have it make its debut at Dino’s Git-Down 2017 show.
